A truck carrying straw caught fire on Dumka-Bhagalpur road, resulting in the complete destruction of the vehicle and its load
The incident marks the second fire-related incident in Dumka within 12 hours
Speculation suggests that the fire in the truck may have been triggered by the straw coming into contact with an overhead electric wire, given the height of the load.
A straw laden truck caught fire late on Friday night at Dudhani Chowk on Dumka-Bhagalpur road. Within no time, the entire truck and the straw loaded in it went up in flames.
Hundreds of people gathered around but the flames were so high that no one could even go close and try to extinguish the fire.
This incident of fire was so dreadful that the traffic on the road came to a standstill for about two hours. People passing by for fear of coming in the grip of fire parked their vehicles on the side. At the same time, the high flames of the fire also engulfed the electric wire, due to which the electricity of Dudhani area was cut off as a precaution.
Seeing the fire in the truck, people informed the fire station, after which the fire engine reached the spot, but by then the truck and all the straw loaded on it had been burnt to ashes. The cause of the fire is not yet known. But the people present on the spot estimate that the straw was loaded in the truck to a great height. The same straw must have come under the grip of the electric wire, due to which this incident happened.
It is notable that this is the second incident of fire in Dumka within a span of 12 hours. On Friday afternoon, a bus parked at the local bus stop also caught fire, in which the bus was completely gutted. The cause of the fire in that too is still being investigated.
